About Molex Coffee

Coffee for the work
behind the work.

Specialty coffee for entrepreneurs. Roasted in small batches in Miami Lakes, Florida.

Molex Coffee began with a simple obsession: understand what changes the cup, control what can be controlled, and keep improving the result.

That means paying attention to the coffee itself — where it came from, who produced it, how it was processed, how it responds to heat, how it rests after roasting, and how it tastes when someone finally brews it. It also means explaining those details without turning specialty coffee into a test that customers have to pass.

The habits are the same

I am Daniel Molinares. My professional life has often placed me inside the systems that keep businesses running: technology, operations, reporting, purchasing, inventory, process improvement, and the difficult work of turning information into decisions.

Roasting coffee may look different from that work, but the habits are familiar. Inputs matter. Process matters. Measurement matters. Judgment matters. People matter most.

Roasting and building a business are not the same thing. They just reward the same discipline: respect the inputs, understand the process, change one variable when you can, and remember that the visible result depends on work most people never see.

Colombia is part of the story

I am also Colombian, so Colombia is not simply another country on a sourcing list. It is part of my own origin story.

Molex gives Colombian coffees a recurring place through Raíces: Colombia, while treating every release with specificity: region, producer, variety, process, harvest, and cup. The point is not to claim one Colombian flavour. It is to honour the depth of the origin and make the personal connection visible without placing it above the people who produced the coffee.

To be precise about it: that connection is personal. It does not mean Molex has a direct relationship with every producer whose coffee reaches the roastery, and we will say plainly which is which on every coffee we sell.

Who this is for

Molex is coffee for builders, and by that we mean something specific: people who own a business, or are working towards one. A first idea being tested after hours. A shop that has been open for twenty years. A two-person agency, a family restaurant, a side business that is not profitable yet.

You do not need funding, employees, or a title to belong here. You also do not need to own anything at all to be welcome — plenty of people just want a good bag of coffee, and that is a perfectly good reason to be here.

What we are not interested in: hustle slogans, performative networking, or pretending that one piece of advice works for everyone. Building something worthwhile takes effort, but it also takes patience, judgment, relationships, and a sustainable pace.

Coffee stays at the centre

We will keep roasting carefully, publishing meaningful information about each coffee, improving our brewing guides, and letting the cup earn your trust. A clever theme will never make an average coffee exceptional.

Around that foundation we are adding Molex Field Notes, practical writing, founder and operator stories, tastings, and small gatherings designed for useful conversation rather than the usual networking theatre.
